This Chrome Extension Privacy Notice explains how the Path Ascent browser extension works and how it handles information when you use it. This notice supplements the Path Ascent Privacy Policy available at https://pathascent.com/privacy.

Purpose of the Extension

The Path Ascent browser extension helps users manually save job opportunities and log job-search or networking activity from job boards, company career pages, professional networking sites, recruiter pages, or other job-search-related websites into their Path Ascent account. The extension is designed to reduce manual data entry and help users connect external job-search activity back to their Path Ascent Action Plan, Applications tracker, Networking workflow, Career Assets, and progress tracking.

The extension may connect to Path Ascent-controlled app domains, including app.pathascent.com and future Path Ascent app subdomains.

User-Initiated Use Only

The extension is user-initiated. It is intended to run when you click or otherwise activate it and choose to save or log information. Before information is saved to Path Ascent, you should be able to review, edit, and confirm the fields being captured.

Information the Extension May Collect

Depending on the page you are viewing and the action you choose, the extension may help capture or save information such as:

Current page URL
Job title
Company name
Job location or remote/hybrid/on-site status, if available
Source site, such as a job board or company career page
Job description text, selected text, snippets, requirements, or other job-posting details when needed for a user-facing Path Ascent feature
Saved, applied, or tracking status chosen by you
Contact name, role/title, company, profile URL, or source page when you choose to log a networking action
Networking action type, such as connection requested, message sent, reply received, or follow-up due
User-entered notes or edits you choose to save
Basic technical information needed for security, debugging, authentication, and extension functionality

What the Extension Does Not Do

The Path Ascent extension is not designed to perform hidden or automated job-search activity. The extension does not:

Automatically apply to jobs
Automatically send messages
Submit forms on your behalf
Automate LinkedIn or other third-party site actions
Scan your email inbox
Collect general browsing history
Monitor your browsing in the background
Scrape hidden or unrelated page data
Collect email body text or attachments by default
Sell your extension-captured data

How We Use Extension Data

We use extension-captured information to provide the Path Ascent features you request, including saving jobs, tracking applications, logging networking activity, creating follow-up reminders, supporting resume and positioning workflows, generating job-search insights from information you choose to save, and helping you organize your career transition or job search.

We may use aggregated or de-identified information derived from user-saved activity to understand product performance, improve user-facing Path Ascent features, and maintain service quality. We do not use extension-captured data to build general browsing profiles, target advertising, or sell browsing activity.

Limited Use Disclosure

Path Ascent's use of information received from the browser extension is limited to providing or improving the extension's single purpose and related user-facing Path Ascent features: helping users manually save job opportunities and log job-search or networking activity into their Path Ascent account.

Path Ascent does not transfer extension-captured user data except as necessary to provide or improve the Service, comply with applicable law, protect against security threats or abuse, or as otherwise described in the Path Ascent Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Websites

The extension may be used while you are visiting third-party websites such as job boards, company career pages, professional networking sites, recruiter pages, or other external job-search resources. Path Ascent does not control those third-party websites and is not responsible for their content, terms, privacy practices, availability, or accuracy. You are responsible for complying with the terms and policies of any third-party websites you use.

Permissions

The extension may request browser permissions needed to provide its user-facing features, such as reading the active page after you activate the extension, saving information you confirm, authenticating with your Path Ascent account, and communicating with Path Ascent services. We aim to request only the permissions needed for the extension's disclosed purpose.

Chrome Extension Authentication and Local Storage

The Path Ascent Chrome extension can be connected from a signed-in Path Ascent web session with a short-lived scoped connect token. That token is scoped only to extension identity checks and user-confirmed capture saves, such as saving a reviewed job, contact, or recruiter / networking follow-up.

The connect token does not expose your password or raw Path Ascent web session cookie. It does not authorize broad account access.

The extension does not request the Chrome storage permission and does not store captured job, contact, or follow-up content locally. It stores only the short-lived scoped connect token in the extension's own local storage so it can verify the connected Path Ascent account and submit user-confirmed saves.

Data Retention and Deletion

Information saved through the extension becomes part of your Path Ascent account and is handled according to the Path Ascent Privacy Policy. You may request deletion of your personal information by contacting us at support@pathascent.com.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information processed through the extension. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
